The IDF which is the second largest user of the M113 family in the world, with some 5000 in service. The M577 version of the M113 was built as the command and control vehicle for forces in the field. The roof is raised over the rear compartment to allow standing without crouching. A tent system could be employed which would allow multiple M577 vehicles to be connected into a full command post. In the IDF The primary use of the vehicle is as a fire control vehicle for a battery of artillery. Some others are used intelligence and electronic warfare vehicles with one seen as a launch and control vehicle for the early type RPV (remotely piloted vehicle) . The Kit comes with a number of nice features. First and foremost is the one piece hull. This alleviates allot of necessary filling and sanding required on the Tamiya kit. The Academy floor is already cast in the interior allowing you to start dropping pieces in as soon as you open the box. The kit offers a few options on layout and comes with a basic interior including the flattened fuel tanks for the interior of the hull. There are also a number of exterior options as well. The exterior is built up primarily from a very nice PE fret which aside from the side storage racks includes the mounting points for other Items like antenna mounts . There is also a nice PE frame for the external generator and a comm cable reel for the front of vehicle. The kit is cast in AEF's standard gray resin. the kit we have is relatively free of flash. Some work will be needed preparing for the roof and front raised panel. in addition to the conversion parts a full set of resin running wheels are included. This kit fills along missing sub variant in the IDF M113 world. |
