Manufacturer: ADV Azimut |
The M3 scout car was considered obsolete in the US Army in 1942, was one of the first armoured cars employed by the fledgling IDF armoured Corps. In order to give a little better protection to the crew additional armour was added to the side and roof of the M3 scout car. Almost all had a turret which mounted a MG 34 type machine gun. at least one had a 37mm cannon. The ADV/Azimut kit is intended to depict an IDF modified White M3 scout car during Israel's war for independence. The kit is cast in a gray resin with small amounts of Flash which will need to be cleaned up before assembly. The primary parts are the armoured section for the fighting compartment and turret. Both look accurate at least compared to photos of an existing armoured shell located on Radar hill just outside Jerusalem. There is also a second bag of secondary parts which includes the doors, hatches for the turret and five replacement wheels for the vehicle. For the most part this is a fairly straight forward kit which should go together without difficulty. You may however want to replace the sand channel which is slightly bulky and made out of resin. The kit instructions are a two sided photo copied sheet of relatively well exploded view diagrams. |
